CUT OFF THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE
After an embarrassing loss, what's next for the Colts. Do we cut off the head of the snake? IU loses in dramatic fashion as Marsh can't drag feet. Purdue has historical loss to Washington. IHSAA Sectional draw and more
speaker-0: Hello! Welcome into Who's Your Beef with General and Slick. This new rhetoric that the state of Indiana is a football state Football state my ass. This is basketball country. Proven this weekend. All four Indiana teams go down, starting with Purdue, IU, Notre Dame, and today are Colts. What a weekend. I've got the general with me who. Frankly went and three this weekend. his IU Hoosiers lost a heartbreaker, a game of inches, And then financially he lost on the Boilers, I believe. And then today to the worst team in the NFL. Kicking the groin again, So General, how was your weekend?
speaker-1: Not very good. Not very good. The only positive was you knew I had laid a decent chunk of change on the Buckeyes, so in preparation.
speaker-0: That's called hedging hedging your emotions.
speaker-1: Yeah, hedging emotions. I I think you you know well about that. But anytime it's a it's a close matchup, I I wanna kinda be on the other side. So I'm either happy or, I'm upset. Yeah,
speaker-0: That's off, but you a little cash in your pocket.
speaker-1: yeah. But any rate, yeah, it's and I mean, today's just absolutely horrific. It it went from bad to as worse. Bad as it can possibly get.
speaker-0: Yeah, it was bad to to dumpster fire real quick. So I don't know if you want to start with the game or who we should fire first. But it just I I don't even want to get into the game. Even you guys watched it. we were hoping to have someone on that was at the game to to give us some reference of the booze we could hear on T V. They were loud over the airways today. when that pump block happened, I could just hear the venom. Coming from the f fans and the stands.
speaker-1: I just love to be a fly or whatever inside of Carly Urse's brain to know what's going on, what she's thinking right now.
speaker-0: Think about this. You're a fan today. You know, Colts have been shit. We know this. You get up. We're gonna introduce Vinny, Adam Vaniteri, into the hollowed grounds of the Ring of Honor. Very few Colts are in. It's our guy. And it's a nice day. You've got the worst team in the NFL, perhaps one of the biggest busts trending. In NFL history and Cam Ward, who did not play well today. Somehow we lost. And you're fired up. They got the roof open. The the stupid shadows are out. And you're up 13 0 at halftime. Cranking away at this bad team. We did not play well in the first half, by the way. And we're still up 13 0. So you're thinking, okay, we'll take care of business today. No one's gonna be Too bad. Everyone's going to be safe at their jobs. Next week at the Vikings. That's going to be the real, real tester. And then all of a sudden, the Tennessee Titans come out and outscore you 26 to 7 in the second half. I could just see that place on fire. Oof.
speaker-1: I mean, what what the hell was that second half? I'm like you. I was we're while we weren't playing good in the first half, thirteen nothing. Okay, we're roll, just kind of rolling along, defense is getting stops. Cam Ward is absolute shit. That guy I mean, he regardless what the Titans do the rest of the season, I believe he's gonna go down as one of the worst number one picks ever. He's horrible.
speaker-0: He's gotta be in the class of Jamarcus Russell, right?
speaker-1: It's funny he brought the name up. His Jamarcus crossed my mind earlier in the in the day, thinking about number one picks being absolute flops.
speaker-0: he does not have a good feel for the game yet. So hopefully, we're not wishing bad on anyone, but as of now, career is not going as planned. They get a win on the road against a division rival. Unbelievable. So anyway, who do we fire first? Do we just cut the head off the snake? Can we just fire Ballard? I mean
speaker-1: They were changing that towards the end of the game. Fire ballad.
speaker-0: My my buddy who was there said that was definitely ringing ringing through there.
speaker-1: No, that's probably not what's gonna he's probably not going first. I I mean, I I just don't think so. And notoriously people tell me I'm wrong on X because the Colts have had like three or four in season firings 'cause I did tweet that out last week and some people came at me. I'm like, Well, it's been a long time. They did do something with Saturday, when they they put Saturday in charge. who do we did we get rid of was it Frank Reich? Yeah. Yeah, Frank Reich.
speaker-0: But hey, Saturday won its first game and then didn't win one after, but
speaker-1: Hey, I'm still standing by get rid of Shane, put Reggie Wayne in charge.
speaker-0: Bridge.
speaker-1: Why not?
speaker-0: Sounds like Robert Mathis had some strong words on Twitter after the game today. Maybe we bring him in.
speaker-1: Math has said someone's getting fired.
speaker-0: And our our guy up front, DeForest Buckner after the game, said he's sick and tired of the same old song and dance every year. Someone demanding a trade or is he or is he wanting someone up top to maybe go?
speaker-1: He should. I mean, Buckner Buckner deserves better than this. So do a lot of these guys.
speaker-0: Well, how about J T? He loves playing. He feasts off the Titans every time. Another great game. Wasted.
speaker-1: four and a half average yards per carry today, which probably could have been even better. But yeah, he had a what a long reception as well.
speaker-0: Yeah, he had fifty two yards through the air, ninety five on the ground, a touchdown. He's happy.
speaker-1: McGowan had a couple nice runs. And you and I, I mean, it's like every week comes to the what the late in the third or the fourth quarter, and you and I are Texan. The Colts are rolling on the ground, O lions getting a push, JT's rumbling. Like, what have we been doing the rest of the game, Shane? Jim, Bob Cooter. What are we doing?
speaker-0: We have too much faith in what my buddy calls the turnover merchant, Daniel Jones, who again, today, I'll give him a little credit on that first pick. He threw it high, but Downs is maybe makes that catch, but a great play by the D B there to tiptoe and catch that ball. But that second pick, it's one one. A hundred percent terrible. You know, JT loses a fumble, just and then it's it's special teams in the second half, forget about it.
speaker-1: That that was a nice rip by what, Williams.
speaker-0: Yeah.
speaker-1: That guy is a game wrecker. Two sacks
speaker-0: He got the fingers around the owner of that ball and it was gone.
speaker-1: I mean he was feasting on our O line there.
speaker-0: So we're up 13-0. Things are looking good. We get that fumble to start the second half. And then they just start chipping away. We keep giving them field position, short fields, and then special teams just wrecked us. They had almost blocked two of Rego's punts earlier in the game. And then they rip off a 58-yard punt return to give them another short field. They score off of that. We do our dumb stuff on offense. And then right up the middle. Two guys could have blocked that punt. Rego gets hurt in the process. We get to that in a second. Scoop and score. All of a sudden, they're up. You know, what what the hell just happened? It was a very short time period.
speaker-1: Yeah, I gotta be honest, I was I was not paying much attention to the Colts. I big into fantasy and and other things as well. So I had the red zone channel going, I had something else going and then the NASCAR race came on, so I had that split screen. So I'm just kinda watching, kinda
speaker-0: Well wouldn't you? We're playing the F and Titans. I think you could hold a lead.
speaker-1: It's a our worst team in the NFL. The Easy W. That's what we talked about last week. Three we're three and three for sure. Going to going to Minnesota. We're three and three. Nope. We already beat the Texans. I mean, so we go to now we gotta go to Minnesota, who's arguably got the best defense in the NFL. And then we gotta go to Jacksonville. And I don't know who they play next week, but you know, they're gonna be pissed off. I don't know how we're gonna slow down that passing attack and Tootin, I mean, that he's run Bashelle Tootin, he's run the hell out of the ball.
speaker-0: And as we talked about before, Minnesota's gonna be coming off a bye. Jacksonville will be coming off a bye. They're coming back from London. So they get a week off 'cause they spent two weeks over there.
speaker-1: Unbelievable.
speaker-0: Why this is why we can't have nice things. So
speaker-1: So let's say we lose those two games, you're two and six, then you got the Cowboys at home who you just never know which Cowboys team's gonna show up, but when
speaker-0: In general, surely we can beat the lowly dolphins. Right? No one loses to the dolphins. No one loses.
speaker-1: loses to the Titans either. I I
speaker-0: Yeah, that's true.
speaker-1: I really I'm really speechless. And if what this is the sixth game of the season, we are two and four. Usually after five or six games is when stuff starts happening. There was a lot of speculation on X this week. should the Colts, if they were to lose the big if, I don't think anyone ever thought it was gonna happen. But should the Colts lose, who gets fired first? And I think you and I both know who all the fans and us as well want gone is Chris Ballard.
speaker-0: You gotta listen to the people, listen to the chants. Here is the X Twitter timeline I got. This is within a two-minute span. I follow a lot of our beat writers and local media type. And I won't name names, but in a two minute stretch, here's how this goes. This is right after the block punt. Colt stink. You have to fire people after this, have to. Penalty, drop, high throw, block punt, touchdown, titans lead. Heads should roll if this game holds. Fucking embarrassing. Dumpster fire. Lucas Oil Stadium a hostile place right now for Colts. Block punt, touchdown, Titans twenty, Colts thirteen. No words good enough for how bad this is. These are not fans, by the way. This is the media, our local media covering the team that is usually looking for positive signs. It's time to go. Come on, three sisters, step up. What are we gonna do?
speaker-1: And then Shane comes into his postgame press conference and says the exact same thing he says every week.
speaker-0: It was a replay of last week after after the Steelers game. We gotta play better. I gotta coach better. We gotta do better. When he he added in, we gotta do it quickly this time.
speaker-1: Quoi cloud?
speaker-0: Yeah. My ass is on the line. I gotta get this done quick.
speaker-1: You you might have one more week, Shane. Maybe. Maybe.
speaker-0: I don't know. They're gonna wait till the buy later in the season. I mean, at some point, you you gotta please the fans, I would think. Yeah.
speaker-1: It's coming. It's just a matter of when. I mean, it like we've talked about before, does getting rid of Honestly, the only way you fire Chris Ballard right now is to please the fans. Otherwise, like you've pointed out, it doesn't make sense unless you have a guy lined up right this second to step in. Because the trade deadline is coming up. The only thing that worries me is He's gotta know his ass is out the door.
speaker-0: He doesn't know that yet? Do you think there is still a chance or his mind thinks I could pull this off?
speaker-1: He's he says, I'm never never gonna do anything detrimental to the Colts organization. Well you did. You traded for Sauce Gardner for two first round draft picks, you dumbass.
speaker-0: He's been doing detrimental shit to the team for a decade.
speaker-1: Yeah, he's unbelievable. Tyler Wall
speaker-0: And who doesn't get their their team as a GM a quarterback since Luck retired, for God's sake?
speaker-1: And you know, I I haven't been one of those that's been tootin horn for Anthony Richardson to play, but at this point, what's it hurt? Like Adam was on the show last week. Why why won't you even put him in the game? He actually is a weapon. The dude is fast. He's powerful. Put him in on short yard situations. I promise you it can't be any worse than Jones. We the reason Jones has such a long leash is because that span of what nine or ten games in the middle of last season when he couldn't do anything wrong before he tore his Achilles. That is that is the reason he has this leash. But what, four touchdown passes and six interceptions and countless fumbles?
speaker-0: No, no, no. Six interceptions in six games. Yeah. Nine total turnovers in six games this year. Yeah. The turnover merchant.
speaker-1: Six INTs, three fumbles.
speaker-0: Now what do we think is more of the true Daniel Jones? A nine game stretch with the Colts in two thousand twenty-five or the other seventy eight games he's played?
speaker-1: Well, he was horrible in New York for the most part.
speaker-0: So we've seen Chekle and Hyde. We're on. I think he found lightning in the bottle last year. Everyone has their hot stretches. Jameis Woodson can get hot. But you know who it is down down under everything, under the hood. Well
speaker-1: And we've seen backup quarterbacks do a lot more with less. Yeah, I know he was without Warren today, but
speaker-0: And we we've been tough on Jones, but it's not his fault. That's just who he is. We it's our fault for giving him the keys of the car and say, you know, get us to the store.
speaker-1: Forty four million dollars we're paying this guy. Forty four million.
speaker-0: We're also paying a guy a number one receiver who can't play.
speaker-1: There is that too. And there's no timeline on him coming back.
speaker-0: And I don't think Ballard's gonna make very good decisions in his investments. No. You know, he made all this money off the Colts. Hopefully he's not investing his personal money like he does our money. You know what I'm saying?
speaker-1: So I mean.
speaker-0: We could go on with the Colts all day.
speaker-1: Right, I think people actually waited to press the button or make the call on their cold season tickets before or till after today.
speaker-0: Because you know they're gonna lose a chunk after today.
speaker-1: Absolutely. I know people were giving up last week as we talked about.
speaker-0: Yeah, you especially since this was a home game.
speaker-1: And you lose to arguably the worst team in the NFL.
speaker-0: That's a tough pill to swallow.
speaker-1: Unbelievable.
speaker-0: I feel bad for Vinny. I mean it's supposed to be his day and it just gets tarnished with a one of the worst humiliating losses in recent history.
speaker-1: What an embarrassment. You have a bunch of Colts legends in the building, and you do that in the second half. The whole the whole operation's embarrassing. But any rate, we let's move on to our our lovely collegiate affair. Yeah, another
speaker-0: Another brutal loss. Down in down in Bloomington Saturday. I was I was feeling for UIU fans.
speaker-1: Yeah.
speaker-0: Wasn't really pulling for but I'll let you talk about your hoosers there.
speaker-1: They really did.
speaker-0: I thought they outplayed didn't they?
speaker-1: A lot of people think that IU did outplay The this is the best effort that the IU defense has given all season long. The the biggest play they gave up was like a fifty something yard jump ball T D to Jeremiah Smith, which neither one of our defensive backs wanted to jump for, which Farrell on his his behalf, he did have a a really good game other than that play. The guy was all over the field. IU had Julian Sand rattled. They eventually knocked him out of the game. Couple people were talking about, the the dirty hits and stuff like that, and I'm like, I don't know. They called two personal fouls, one on each team that I don't really know if they they levied up to that. Yeah. if obviously if it's a blow to the head or neck area, then it has to be called. But other than that, unless it's like blatantly late, way late, let it go. But yeah, the fact of the matter is, I mean, neither team could really get the ground game going. IU only ran for 73 on the ground, led by Turbo with forty six total. Ohio State only ran for seventy eight. the biggest difference in the game was IU had not fumbled a ball since game one of the twenty twenty five season. And
speaker-0: It was over fourteen hundred snaps.
speaker-1: Back to back possessions. Davion Chandler gets the ball ripped after making a nice catch over the middle. And and then Hoover gets blown up. And one at Hoover. Hoover gets set. Yeah.
speaker-0: Yeah.
speaker-1: So that was a big turning point in the game. Obviously you could see near the end when the Ohio State backup had to come in, I use D line was just teeing off. Going to town had everything working. And it seemed that Hoover finally had everything clicking. And hey, it is what it is, right? He had two guys in his face, had to get the pass off. I know fans will if the ball was, three yards more into the boundary. Yeah, well, you have two big 290 pound defensive linemen coming in at your face and see where you throw the ball. So The fact that he got the ball almost what? Close to fifty yards in the air to Marsh. And hey, it is what it is. Marsh had the guy burned. And hey, unfortunately, hey, last year, they say it's a game of inches, right? Last year, Omar Cooper Jr.'s foot comes down in the back of the end zone. replayed. IU wins that ballgame yesterday. Nick Marsh, unfortunately, left foot out of bounds. He knew it right away, unfortunately. so yeah.
speaker-0: You could see it with with him and the fans. The hands go up, the hands come down. Yep.
speaker-1: And I think I've been talking about this for a little while. I've seen and with Signetti and Shanahan and Haynes and the coaching staff, I don't think it's a fact of the matter they let these guys get complacent. It just happens with this twenty two game winning streak. You just see it in the Northwestern game and then at Nebraska, they're just not firing all cylinders. So I thought
speaker-0: They look focused and and ready to play.
speaker-1: Well, it was an overall pretty good effort. I mean, only coming away with fifteen points. obviously at the end of the day, it's not gonna do it. I will say, Nick Saban, I don't know if you watched his documentary, but he said both of his teams that had nineteen game winning streaks, he had two of in his time at Alabama. He said he could sense the complacency in practice and in games that they just thought they were gonna show up and they were gonna get the W each week. And so He could just tell, and he knew in his mind it was time for a loss. And while there's never a good time for a loss, for Indiana to, in my opinion, be a little complacent, almost still win the ballgame. I actually think this is going to be a good thing for the rest of the season. la after last time they lost, you know, look what they reeled off. This team is definitely not as good. They have the potential to be, but I feel sorry for Michigan next week. I even though it's at the big house, I really think IU's gonna go in there and just absolutely put it on him. So the rest of the schedule's not easy for IU. Got Michigan, got USC, got Minnesota, got the Boilers, who you don't know which team is going to show up for them. And then you got at Washington. You don't know which team's gonna show up for them. So five more games, and there was absolute carnage across the NCAA. Seven of the top ten teams in the country lost yesterday. What do think about that?
speaker-0: Yeah, five of the top seven too. I mean, absolutely carnage. like you said. But you know what? IU I think everyone learned that they were no fluke last year. They know they can hang with anyone. they probably played one, if not the most talented team in college football. And their defense is nasty. I know you only put up fifteen, but without a couple fumbles, you probably put up a few more. I thought the turning point in the game, you were up seven three early and And then Hoover misses his tight end for a touchdown there, just didn't see him open. Why? And if you go up 14 3 there, I think that's curtains. So that was a missed opportunity. And then I thought that was a dime by Hoover at the end. I'm sorry. That's a heck of a throw. And Marsh, he did his best. He probably should have treated it like a sideline. Right. Where he just drags both feet. Cause you you're taught not to to drag your outside foot. But the ball was on the outside, so he kinda had to. And it was just what three inches off the line there. So
speaker-1: Let's be honest, nobody feels worse about it than Nick Marsh. But I I saw some people trying to go at him on X and I'm like, you guys need to chill.
speaker-0: One was
speaker-1: Dude's coming off national player of the week. Guys just make a
speaker-0: Praising Yeah. So how the internet goes.
speaker-1: Somebody, golly, I can't remember who it was. A b a big time figure in the game, NFL, said that Charlie Becker is is NFL ready. Now I hope the latter part of this isn't true. He said he's the next Alec Pierce, which I'm like okay, well, when Pierce is good and on the field, then yeah, sure. But guy's been injured.
speaker-0: My wife watches hardly any football. Except when Notre Dame plays a little bit. And anyway, she was watching IU with me for like five minutes and she goes, Who's that tall white receiver on IU? And I go, Charlie Becker? And she goes, he looks like an NFL player. Like she saw like two plays.
speaker-1: She she could be the Colts GM talent identification.
speaker-0: Yeah, let's just let's get all women in there. Why not?
speaker-1: Why why not? You know what? I actually, you know, I was looking at potential lists of, you know, who could be the next general manager and there is a I believe she's assistant general manager somewhere or something to do with the scouting department. Her name was rumored and I was like when that really shocked the world.
speaker-0: That's you get headlines.
speaker-1: Right.
speaker-0: Well, we'll see what we'll see what they want to do, but I think we do need to start a segment once a week now and just looking at candidates, deep diving them, and then give the people what they want, like a top three wish list, maybe a Christmas list.
speaker-1: Yeah.
speaker-0: Of who we want. I got a few people in mind I'd like to bring in.
speaker-1: night, tomorrow, whenever we know it's happening on Black Monday for sure, the the day after the final game of the regular season for you folks that don't know what Black Monday in the NFL is.
speaker-0: the top of my head, I don't remember what our bye week is. It's like twelve, it's late this year. Just send a message. Hey, we were absolutely correct and weren't dishonest in January when we said people will be held accountable.
speaker-1: So let's get back to the old college ball.
speaker-0: my god, you wanna go to West Lafayette Friday night?
speaker-1: So I was right last week and some reason on the Boilers in in Minnesota and I just thought, Hey, Washington's coming cross country. They got their backup quarterback rolling in. Purdue's actually favored in a Big Ten home game. The Boilers are just gonna roll the Huskies. Boy was I wrong.
speaker-0: You were you were confident. You said, hammered down. Hammer. And I said, Be cautious. This is usually when Purdue Fs up. I text my boys, I go, wouldn't it be such Purdue if we lose to the backup quarterback? And wouldn't you know it, right out of the gate we get a pick and we go three and out. The Colts gave up fifteen chunk plays of fifteen yards or more.
speaker-1: Okay.
speaker-0: Not the Colts did I say the Colts?
speaker-1: Boilers, you mean.
speaker-0: Yeah, sorry. Boy Colts are still in my mind. Yeah, the Purdue Boyllamakers. Easy easy. Who played Washington. Who were favored gave up fifteen fifteen yard chunk plays or more.
speaker-1: Crazy the craziest thing about that Purdue game is that Washington quarterback, he you want to talk about Jekyll and Hyde. It was either he was throwing dimes or he was throwing it to the Purdue player. Five
speaker-0: No fear. F
speaker-1: turnovers by that Washington offense.
speaker-0: How about this stat? A team that goes minus four on per number differential and wins by twelve or more points has happened twice since two thousand. One of them was Friday night. The other one was in the early two thousands Red River shootout game.
speaker-1: my gosh. I I was I was thinking
speaker-0: It's impossible. Turnover. Five.
speaker-1: over differential and I was like, it's had to been a long ass time since somebody's won the turnover margin by this much and still kind of get their butts kicked.
speaker-0: It was like every time you look, they got someone running down the field for thirty yards. And then Fame Ishiibu, who was our boy last week. Yeah. Hundred and ninety five yards against that stout Minnesota D, Washington had to stop the run in three games. Yeah. And he has nineteen yards on thirteen carries.
speaker-1: He couldn't go anywhere. What? It was crazy.
speaker-0: So I don't want to get in the weeds on the boilers, but
speaker-1: Brown sad. Brown is still a gunslinger. I do like that kid.
speaker-0: I mean they put up twenty six points, some of those garbage time. Did you
speaker-1: see when your guys line linebacker the guy that is the green dot got knocked out on the sidelines there yeah dude for like 30 seconds whoa I was worried honestly worried big
speaker-0: No.
speaker-1: he snapped too and you can tell and then he was hit yeah yeah that would that was kind of scary but yeah I mean that that obviously is a big loss. Is that I believe that guy's is he from Hawaii? Looked like a one. Yeah.
speaker-0: Yep, we we had some bright spots though. usually our second receiver, Asad with seems, at sixteen targets. So it wasn't just Xavier Townsend show like it is usually, nine catches. But They got beat. They got beat by a backup quarterback at home under the lights. My buddy was there. He said the stadium was seventy five percent full, so they still can't sell out. But that would have been a big boost, I think, if they would have won that game.
speaker-1: How about that that husky D B? I'm like, dude, i it was I think it was in the fourth quarter. I'm like, dude, you need to break up the pass and he's sitting there comes down to the student section. I like
speaker-0: I love these cats that are just fake celebrating anything.
speaker-1: So cocky. Why is why the game? Why's every player so cocky anymore?
speaker-0: I don't know, you should ask should ask Halliburton.
speaker-1: Yeah.
speaker-0: Did you see that preseason game the other night?
speaker-1: I saw bits and pieces of it.
speaker-0: Did you did you see when the Bucks Pacers robbery picked up again right where it left off, even though Giannis is gone? So
speaker-1: I don't know
speaker-0: Halliburton is going up for an offensive rebound and Rollins on the Bucks blatantly just shoves him down to the ground. Not and the ball's not even close. It's on the other side of the of the court. And Halley gets up. They just call a common foul. They didn't even look at it. And he's he just starts yelling at the dude, and it was a hot mic, and he goes, Use a bitch, use a bitch. It kinda kinda went viral there for a second, at least on my timeline. But then same old Holly, he he comes back, he drills a three, and he immediately goes up to him and like tries to do the whole walkover thing. But it reminded me of the the Washington D V. It's just like you have to get it in there. Just have to rub it a little too much.
speaker-1: Wow. Sorry, I was a little distracted there. watching this NASCAR race, Kyle Larson, the points leader, just got into the wall pretty hard. So not good. Probably gonna lose a points lead here. So
speaker-0: Is that is that your guy?
speaker-1: Yeah, I've been a big Larson fan ever since Gordon retired. So but yeah.
speaker-0: You're just having a tough go at it this weekend, man.
speaker-1: Yeah, it is a tough go. Tough goal. I mean some good news for you Hoosier fans out there. I saw one of our future wide receivers next year in the way of Brandon Sharp from Brownsburg. Kid's an absolute stud.
speaker-0: Pull in that game? I know you were there.
speaker-1: I was wearing blue. Blue, and it was cold, rainy, windy, you name it. It was ugly night for football. And
speaker-0: Time score at that game.
speaker-1: thirty five to nothing. Brownsburg pulled all their starters. Brandon Sharp had four touchdowns in the first half. Four. Good.
speaker-0: Sounds
speaker-1: Brownsburg could have named named the amount of points they wanted to score in that game. They pulled everybody and they didn't score another point in the second half. So Yeah. That was which i is no surprise. Brownsburg's rolled teams all year, so they won at ball game thirty five to seven, steaming right in the five A and six A's will have this week off as they they normally do.
speaker-0: You happen to catch the sectional draw.
speaker-1: I did.
speaker-0: And so it looks like groups three and five, kind of groups of death there. So in group five you've got Avon, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Zionsville. That's pretty good, right?
speaker-1: Yep, that's a good one.
speaker-0: And then group three, you got Carmel, Fishers, HSC and Westfield.
speaker-1: Yeah, I mean the winner of I hate hate to be down on my my Royals, but the winner of the Westfield Carmel game is gonna win the sectional. Southeastern already Southeastern and Pisters already had one shootout and they'll I'm sure they'll have another shootout again. In this HSE team, they're a lot better than they were at the start of the season, but
speaker-0: Hey, give H E C some credit. I believe they won their first ever tennis championship.
speaker-1: Hey, boys state champions this week. It was a big weekend for for Hamill and Southeastern Sports. Our girls' soccer team that's ranked not only number one in the state, but number one in the country. They beat number two in the state, home Fort Wayne Homestead, four to three to advance the semi state next weekend.
speaker-0: Okay. I'm anxious to get into some more high school stuff as we get in the
speaker-1: Unfortunately the boys played as well and they fell two to the to the Carroll Chargers up in Kokomo. So their season ended. But good season from the boys' soccer team and hopefully the girls can go back to back.
speaker-0: Alrighty. Well, we've got Pacers starting up on Wednesday to open the season. They're gonna be at New Orleans at the Pelicans. Shame on the NBA for giving us such a bad game for Halliburton's regular season debut. I watched every first half at least of the preseason, even though they went one and three as a team, we know that doesn't matter. They scored an average of sixty three point two points in the first half. However, they gave up over 60 points in the first half on average, too. So I think you're going to see kind of the same old story. A lot of shootouts early, but I do like the offensive flow. We got to look for the health of TJ McConnell, who's yet to play, and then Aaron Neesmith, who's been off and on. Halley's been a little bit of workload management. He took off a game. He hadn't been playing second half that much. But I'm excited for the Pacers, particularly now that the Colts are Real garbage, real hot garbage. And I'm anxious to see tomorrow if some heads are rolling. What are you looking forward to?
speaker-1: Yeah, I just got in on folks. if you want to get in before the subscription price for D Zone Pacers yearly subscription goes up, get in today or tomorrow. The price is eighty dollars for the season. You get your first seven days free, or it's gonna go up to one forty if you wait until the day before the game or the tip off. what wednesday
speaker-0: That that works out of state this year too.
speaker-1: Yeah.
speaker-0: Where I think FanDuel last year you could only watch locally for some reason.
speaker-1: In Indiana. Yeah, I believe there's twelve or thirteen games on here locally, but I do so far. I got my free trial the other night, tuned in a little bit. And yeah, it's it's just
speaker-0: Was that was the feed? Was it pretty smooth? Yeah.
speaker-1: It was good. Yeah, love to hear Daenery and Buck. so what what my my takeaway is that the Pacers offensively still have it. Matter if they want to D up a little bit when it it gets down to crunch time, but thinking a lot of overs are in order for the Pacers and their opponents this season. Yeah.
speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. You think that's the play early? Okay. We'll take it from our local gambling expert, the general.
speaker-1: But yeah, let's just pray who's Purdue got next week?
speaker-0: Dude, I was so busy doing this. I don't know. They're gonna lose. We've got I wrote it down somewhere.
speaker-1: Got Indiana at the big house up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. And then the Colts are at the vaunted Minnesota Vikings.
speaker-0: you know why I didn't know? Purdue's definitely gonna go probably won't be talking about next week. They're on a buy.
speaker-1: Okay. No good. No good. So
speaker-0: That's why I didn't write it down.
speaker-1: we got the pa we got the pacers to talk about. I believe we'll have a few games in the bag, hopefully a couple dub use before we air our next pod. So
speaker-0: Ten seconds on how I can still win the Big Ten. They went out and Ohio State loses once, right? We meet in the Big Ten championship. Ohio State's got a tough schedule. I mean, they don't have any cakewalks.
speaker-1: You know who's number one? Well, UCLA and and Ohio State are tied for first. U C L A beat Wisconsin last night.
speaker-0: And you said UCLA's got a pretty soft schedule.
speaker-1: Your schedule's pretty weak.
speaker-0: Def IU fans definitely need Ohio State to lose a game. But then they have the tiebreaker, so they'd have to lose two games.
speaker-1: Yeah. I use gotta be rooting for U CLA to lose a game is is what needs to happen. Do they
speaker-0: They they don't play each other.
speaker-1: They don't play each other this year.
speaker-0: Do you know what the second tiebreaker is then? overall? Overall
speaker-1: That's a good question.
speaker-0: you're in good shape, I think.
speaker-1: Yeah, U CLA's have been playing some good ball. Nebraska went to Oregon last night and lost.
speaker-0: Wisconsin was undefeated too in the Big Ten.
speaker-1: Yep.
speaker-0: So Ohio State's at USC, they got Oregon, a spicy one against Northwestern at Nebraska, and then they'll slaughter Michigan.
speaker-1: And for you golden domers out there, what happened to those Irish actually playing a team were
speaker-0: Dude, that was a heck of a game. Just a DYU.
speaker-1: Now I will say that was defensive pass interference on the last play of the game that Notre Dame got hosed.
speaker-0: Yeah, they did. That's called almost every time.
speaker-1: J just watching a bunch of college ball this week, I really like how they'll let you inside and hear the replay center talking to the ref. I feel like it's it gives the fans a new you know, inside to the game. It it's pretty cool in my opinion.
speaker-0: waiting for him to go, dude, did you see anything? No. Do you? All right, let's tell him we saw something though. All right, guys. We we'll see if we can get up maybe a pot in midweek after the Pacers play. If not, we will probably see you next Sunday.
speaker-1: Hope everybody has a good week and I don't think you get much worse than this past week, so let's get some W.
